2. Cenote Azul

Cenotes are underwater sinkholes formed by limestone caves. They provide fresh water and are often filled with beautiful tropical fish. Many cenotes have natural pools at their bottom that offer calm and clear water ideal for swimming. In Tulum, there is a cenote called Cenote Azul. It’s a short drive south of Tulum and is easily accessible.

3. Xel-Há

Xel-Ha is a Mayan ruin about 20 minutes outside of Tulum. It was once a ceremonial center for the ancient Maya and today still houses several ruins. The name Xel-Ha means ‘water well’ in the Yucatec Maya language, and that’s exactly what this place offers. The site has two separate parts: Chac Mool and Chac Mul. Chac Mool is a pyramid-shaped structure while Chac Mul is a temple complex. Both structures were built around AD 800.
